Lifestyle family photography on location is a great way to capture a mix of posed and candid moments with you and your children.
I give direction when needed to create a relaxed candid look but with a little structure and direction so everyone looks their best!
All my family photoshoots are either outside at a park or beach or at your home.
The duration of the photoshoot will depend on the number of people, the location, the ages of children and our desired outcome.
For older children (teens and young adults) it is a posed family session.

What to wear to your family portrait session
WHAT TO WEAR
Planning your family's outfits is important because these photos should be timeless and also look great hanging on the walls in your home.
I recommend colour coordinating outfits but not matching.
Thinking about if you prefer neutral tones or bright colours. If there are bright colours make sure they don’t clash. Avoid busy patterns, tee-shirts with logos and slogans, and kids clothing with cartoon characters on them. Make sure clothes are clean and ironed and also dress for the weather – no one likes to be too cold or too hot.
PLAN AHEAD
Parents – think about your outfits first and if you want to get your hair and make-up done. If you feel great and well prepared you will love your photos so much more.
WHAT TO BRING
The family, change of clothes for little kids, distraction/favourite toy. Let me know if you are bringing your dog!
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Family or friends that are not part of the family session. Dogs to beaches or parks if they are not allowed there.
Of course, if you are trying to get out the door and your child is only happy if they get to wear their ballet tutu (for example) then so be it – A happy child in something they want to wear is better than a child in tears in the “perfect outfit”.
Bring a change of clothes for the kids especially for after a beach photoshoot.
Snacks before and after a shoot are also good for the kids… and adults!
PHOTOSHOOT TIMING
You need to book your shoot for a time that suits your family, not only when the adults are available but also when small children are at their best, such as the morning after a sleep and food. I am happy to postpone the photoshoot if kids are sick or the weather is not suitable.
As my photoshoots are generally outside and booked at times that are ideal for lighting conditions (Mostly late afternoon & early evening) the photoshoot may not be extended in time if you arrive late to the shoot.
Also, I should not be held liable if the weather takes a turn for the worse during the shoot.
If you have booked an extended family photoshoot each family unit can style their group and hopefully it all goes well together - by all means, you do not need to match.
Remember, have fun!

"My two daughters, husband and I had a family photo session with Sarah…I am SO impressed with her work.
Not only is she a lovely person who made us feel totally comfortable during the shoot, but she certainly has an true talent and passion for what she does. She was so easy to communicate with, from organising the session to choosing the favourite final images."
"Sarah photographed our extended family and she was fantastic. Sarah is very professional but relaxed at the same time. We all felt at ease in her company and the photos are stunning and very natural. We would highly recommend her as a photographer."
